I have installed windows 7 and haven't udpated any drivers for it yet. I went back and installed my graphics card into the computer before disabling the integrated intel hd 4000. After I installed the gpu and hooked it up to my monitor there is now a blank screen as if to detect no card. Sapphire instruction book said to uninstall that before hand but I thought I might have issues if it doesn't detect the new gpu and I have no integrated graphics to fall back on. I basically left intel hd 4000 enabled. I tried using different cables (vga, hdmi) while the power was still on is that ok? I think I'll end up having to remove the graphics card but I cannot properly shut down windows when I can't see anything. What should I do?

I can't see anything on the monitor to download new drivers. Should I power down the pc and hope windows doesn't have any corrupt files from improper shutdown? I am new to this whole pc building thing so I don't know the risks. Removing the video card and updating the drivers the proper solution?

Ok I got the graphics card working. Now my question is how do I disable intel hd 4000? Do you normally do that through the uefi? Or perhaps it's automatic once the system detects the other gpu?
