I need to upgrade my PSU to handle a new graphics card; need 400 to 500 watts. I tried the Corsair vx450 but it was not compatible with my system and would intermittently fail to start up. Corsair sent me a replacement and, same problem.

What PSUs have been used successfully in upgrading a Dell Inspiron 518?

Thanks.

Newegg had a pc power and cooling for some dell models, but I don't know if they still carry it. What is your graphics card?

I just got this for my Dell XPS 435mt, not to say it'll work 'fine' on your Dell Inspiron
