Ok so I have a really old P4 2.4, 1 Gig Ram, Radeon 9550 256 Card, it couldn't handle anything anymore.

So I decided to get someone to make me a basic cheap gaming rig, it cost me around $800 NZD, and after doing my homework I realised I could have gotten it for around $100 less with an E5300 with someone else but meh too late now.

Anywho, heres what I brought, I'd like some feed back to see if I haven't done too bad in terms of components and price.

CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0ghz
Motherboard: ASUS M2N68-AM+
G-Card: HIS ATI HD4670 1GB
RAM: 4GB Kingston DDR2-800
HDD: Seagate 500GB
CD/DVD Writer: Samsung 22x
Case: Supercase MATX Tower Case
OS: Win XP Home 32 Bit (This was free, I happened to have a spare copy there)

Feed back please =)

Maybe you should buy a am3 mobo and combine it with ddr3, prices should be similar performance is better AND you will be able to update to the bulldozer Amd cpu's comming out in 2011.

^^ I agree with both of those suggestions.

Also, the HD 4670 is not a very good card for gaming unless you a) have power supply limitations, or b) have an old machine with an AGP slot and that's the highest card they make for it. It will NOT handle intense games like shooters at an acceptable framerate. If you're building a new machine, I'd definitely go with an HD 4870 or 5770.

On the other hand, you may also consider dropping a 4670 into your old machine. That, plus bumping it up to 2GB of RAM, will at least let it meet the minimum specs for a lot more of the modern games. You still won't be able to play the more graphically demanding games very well, but if you're more interested in slower-paced affairs like strategy, city builders, etc., it will at least let you play those reasonably well.
