Vertex3 120GB not performing nearly up to par.

So today I finally took the plunge and bought a Sandy Bridge based setup with a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 motherboard and i5-2500k. I also picked up an OCZ Vertex 3 120GB.

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows onto the SSD, and after running CrystalDiskMark I'm underwhelmed to see the 1000MB Sequential writes only amount to a speed of 450MB/s read and 170MB/s write. While this is fast, it's not what I paid 200 bucks for.

I enabled AHCI before installing.

Why am I not getting the performance I should?

  1. Advertised speeds for your drive are with ATTO & AS-SSD, not CrystalDiskMark.

If you’re looking for the 550MB Read/500MB Write speed you have to benchmark with ATTO.

Here’s the link to the spec sheet for your drive: http://www.ocztechnology.com/res/manuals/OCZ_Vertex3_Product_Sheet.pdf
