Hey.

I thinking of getting XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V on Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower.

Anyone know if it will fit comfortably?

Also, there is room for 3 additional fans on the case? Should I populate all those case fans if I'm considering overclocking?

Or will this beast of a heat sink be good enough.

Thanks

Allan

Could you provide more specific information? Like if your overclocking, what gpu/cpu do you have? And can you include links for the heat sink you were looking at?

This is basically what I've bought.

Intel Core i5 750 Processor - 2.66GHz, LGA 1156, 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core, Lynnfield
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) X 2
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply
ASUS P7P55D LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Logitech MX518
SAPPHIRE 100283-2L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
Razer RZ03-00180100-R3U1 Lycosa Gaming Keyboard

I plan to overclock as much as possible. I'm going to try to overclock the video card too.

1) The DK will fit into Antec 300
2) I recommend the three additional 120mm fans like the Antec 300 Illusion (2-Fromt & 1-Top)

The top 140mm is not optional, it and the rear 120 are included in the basic 300 black.

Adding the two optional front fans (at least one) is a very good idea.

Adding the optional side fan depends on if your GPU is getting hot or not. The side fans main function is to pull cold air from the side in for the GPU.

Thanks you dndhatcher.

I didn't know that actually.

My main concern is that if I install all 3, it would get too loud.

[Also, fans are not that cheap. ]

I have a 300 illusion and a 900, bit sit up on the desktop next to the monitor. I run all 4 fans (2 front, 1 rear, 1 top) on low on both cases. Running the fans on low means I hear the hard drive clearly when it starts grinding data. To me that is not too loud.

You could always install and run it without any additional fans and then go get one ($10-15) if you have temperature issues. Getting just one front fan to get airflow going would be another good option.
