APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: I will probably buy within the next week or two. Nothing more than $1200

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Video editing, 3D modeling, photoshop, web design, light gaming

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: I need everything but a monitor

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Really any site in the US works.

PARTS PREFERENCES: I would like an i7 920 with DDR3 ram.

OVERCLOCKING: Most likely not.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Since I will be doing a lot of multimedia editing RAM will be quite important.

That means 6 gigs as a minimum. What kind of games do you play? Is noise a concern? Do you take bling over functionality in cases? Other than a LCD, what other parts/peripherals are you reusing?

I priced out an i7 920 at microcenter on Long Island for this price 883.09 after sales tax. This build is w/o a GPU, HD,or PSU though

i7 920 199.99
asus p6t mobo 249.99
ocz 6g ddr3-1600 149.99
antec 300 case 47.99
dvd r/w drive #1 34.99
dvd r/w drive #2 29.99
wind 7 oem 99.99

total 812.93

I am sure you can get a HD, GPU and PSU for under the 400 left in your budget..

GL!!

p55ibexpeak - I was actually looking more along the lines of around 9 gigs of ram. I just got a ps3 so gaming will not be a big deal at all. I might insall CSS or something like that. The video card will primarily be used for hd video, 3d modeling, and stuff in photoshop. Noise isnt all that big of deal, of course I dont want a pc that sounds like a semi truck :) . For the case, I don't really want bling at all. A blue LED light or so would be fine but nothing fancy. Other than the LCD...I need everything haha.

Total after shipping & tax would be a few bucks over budget. The thing is you want 9 gigs of ram, but there are either 6 or 12 so I picked out 12 gigs. The cheaper i7 mobos have only 4 memory slots. The ASUS has 6 and it's a very solid board.

The GPU uses passive cooling: no moving parts. Noiseless. It's adequate.

The case is pretty quiet and has a quality PSU that can power even HD 5770 if you upgrade to that down the road.

There's only 1 HDD on the list. It's a fast one. Make sure you back up your files (bookmarks) & work to DVD+/-R or RW regularly.

If you don't have an OS, you will need to swap out the ram for 6 gigs for now and get Windows 7 64bit. You can always throw 6 more gigs in the case later on. This is a good ram kit:
