Anyone heard anything about the 4 gigabyte version? I read somewhere that it might make an appearance at CES 2010. Is Qimonda even making large enough GDDR5 flash memory to support it?

I honestly forgot. It was in a 5970 review by some site. I tried finding it, and I failed. The reviewer was just guessing; he did not have legitimate info.

The only advantage would be for those running multimonitor setups. Single monitors would NOT see any significant difference.

The only advantage I see is for those with 3 Eyefinity montior with resolutions that exceed 1600p, they will need those 4 Gb( 2Gb/GPU).
Lets hope they clock the same as the 2 Gb.

I'm planning to get either the 5970 4gb or, if that's not available, a 5870 2gb and then pick up a 2nd for Xfire Eyefinity once it's supported.

If neither are out by mid January, when I plan to buy, then I'll have to 'settle' for a 5970 2gb.

I'll be running 3x 28" monitors at 1920x1200 resolution each.
