GPU and System concerns

I am building a new gaming computer, however, i'm just finalizing the GPU. This is the system so far:

CPU:Intel Core i7 920 Processor LGA1366 2.66GHz 8MB Cache CPU
Mobo: Asus P6T Deluxe V2 EXGTE LGA1366 X58 6DDR3 FSB1600(OC)RAID 2GBLAN 3xPCIE2.0 ATX
HDD(x2): Samsung 1.5TB Silencer Series 32M
PSU: Corsair HX-850 ATX Power Supply w 140mm Modular Cables
Optical Drive: Sony AD7240SGB 22X SATA OEM DVD RW Black
Cooling: Noctua NH-U12P Special Edition SE2
Ram: G Skill 6G(3x2G) DDR3 PC12800 9-9-9-24

Will these GPU's be compatible, and if so, which one:

Zotac ZT-295E3MB-FSP GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896-bit (448 x 2)-bit GDDR3 (576MHz/2016MHz)

OR

EVGA GeForce GTX295 Co-op Edition 1792MB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card 017-P3-1295-AR

OR

EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800GTX 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card

any help will be welcome, thanks!

More about system concerns
  1. Only change would be the RAM with 7-7-7-24 timings!
    HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB.

    Now for the cards,
At least have some parity is the cards you select. One is a beast and the other is just a house cat!
HD5970 if you have the budget or EVGA GTX295 according to your list (not a good option now)!

i think gtx295 and gf 9800gtx are two poles
ati 5 series is also running hot
  3. Any of those cards will work in your system, not sure why you threw in that 9800GTX with GTX295? The performance different between those is monstrous.

The GTX295 is a good card, however, I would honestly go for a 5870(1GPU), which performance is comparable to the 295 (2 GPU solution). However, the 5870 is DX11 (295 is only DX10)and sucks less power. If you are looking for a HIGH end solution, you can go for a 5970, which is ATI's dual GPU solution and walks all over the GTX295. But honestly a 5970 is a little overkill unless you are running REALLY high res or multiple displays.
  4. jay2tall is right
but i would ask someone if i were you before buying 5870/5970 who already owns the card
  5. I think I would want to ask the OP 2 questions:

    1) What monitor resolution are you plannin got run, and will it be a single or multiple monitor setup.

    2) What are your goals with this system?
  6. If you buying your components today, there's no reason to spend your money on a GTX 295, go for the ATI HD 5870 (or the 5970). The 9800 is old crap and shouldn't even be on your list.
