I'm wanting to buy a new video card and i believe the ATI 5850 is going to be it. I do IT sales and have access to all the big distributors (Ingram, Tech Data, Synnex, D&H etc) and after seeing my cost of this card being $260.00 and seeing Newegg selling it for $309+, did this card go up in price? I dont have stock otherwise I would pick it up at $260.00 but Newegg does. I have also read other people talk about how these cards jumped up in price due to backorder issues or manufacturing issues, is this true or whats the scoop?

Would it be wise to purchase now or will these be going back down in price anytime soon?

Realistic street prices on that card float around $350 to $400+. There is no way around this...

were they around $280 when the card was first released and then the price increased to $350 due to backorder issues with ATI?

40nm chip manufacturing process is very hard, unreliable and in extremely limited quantities right now, and with no clear signs of improvement... (that's why Nvidia still has no 40nm DX11 card yet). So untill they fix that crap, prices are going to stay as is or worse. :fou:
