Hi, I've got the HK Soundsticks (not the USB model - just one simple plug) and my PC doesn't have a separate sound card. What should I look out for when buying a sound card to get better sound quality and higher volume? I just use it for playing music, not for gaming. Many thanks!

any of the asus xonar range, i woudn't really go over asus xonar D2, as i doubt u will find much difference, plus the cost.

the best one to go with that has a nice balance to price and quality, is the asus xonar DX

if u change your mind in anyway of getting the ASUS

then pls do not go to CREATIVE soundcards.

+1 For an ASUS Xonar D1 (PCI) or Dx (PCIe).
Either will be a massive upgrade from your current onboard codec.
I agree that any higher quality sound card will be a waste with your current speakers.

Yeah, you will not find many Creative fans around here.
Their current products are quite terrible :pfff:

Wow - that bad ?! A colleague just told me he has one of theirs and I think it cost a fair bit as well. He seems quite pleased, but then again, he wouldn't say anything else after spending all that! Thanks again!
