Laing D5 with Tacho - What do I do with the Tacho wire?

Hi all, I'm in the middle of my first water cooled build, ordered an Alphacool VPP655 (D5 vario) and have been sent a VPP655T.
The difference with this pump is it has a tacho cable on a 3 pin fan header - and I have no idea what its for

My guess would be I attach this to one of the motherboard headers - then tell the bios "something" - then it monitors the pump?

If someone could explain to me what this wire does and what to do with it I'd really appreciate it

yes you can hook it to a MB fan header and you will get a read in the fan speed section of the bios under that header the read or RPM represents the motor speed of the pump.

^To add, you'd need software like HW Monitor to read the RPM readout from your OS. Otherwise, it would only show when in the BIOS like toolmaker mentioned.
