NTVDM excessive CPU usage

A client's PC running Windows XP SP3 has two NTVDM processes that launch and use massive amounts of CPU. I cannot find anything obvious in MSCONFIG and will be running Process Explorer shortly. I am wondering if there's anything else I should be looking for or trying. The machine is running SEP12 and Office 2007.

Some malware camouflage themselves as ntvdm.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the ntvdm.exe process on your pc whether it is pest.
