Hello, and thanks for taking your time to read this. I was thinking of building a custom pc, as my current laptop is starting to struggle and most pre-made computer's are too expensive (or not worth the money). I've sort of got some ideas for parts and was wanting to get some help/advice. I'll be using this computer to do to the basics along with some gaming (GT4, fallout, devil may cry etc) and adobe suite CS3-CS4 work (for college).

Alrighty then:

Motherboard:

CPU:

Hard Drive:

DVD Drive:

RAM:

Case(with PSU):

Graphics Card:

Monitor (will hopefully be duel screening) Either:

If I've missed anything, or if you can suggest anything better, then please tell me and thanks in advance for any advice.

Refer to the stickied thread "How to ask for new build advice." We really can't do much without a budget...

HDD: Switch it with a Samsung Spinpoint F3. This is newer, faster, and all around better drive.

RAM: You need DDR3, not DDR2. I recommend finding some 1333 mhz sticks with CAS Latency 7.

GPU: You should up that to the HD 5770. It's newer, quieter, cooler, and supports DirectX 11. It's performance is about the same, but it's more current.

1. mobo ddr3 = you need ddr3 ram (your chosen kit is ddr2), and ddr3 ram isn't much more expensive than ddr2 anymore.

2. your cpu choice is athlon x2, consider getting an athlon x3 or x4

3. case, get a 120mm fan to use as the intake in the front

4. the dell 20" is good, but you can get 22" for an extra £10... your choice.

5. graphics card. hd4760 is a budget card, might struggle to play high settings on gta4 and fallout3.

Right, thanks ;).

I've got a budget of about £400-£500.
