I am building a machine for work. I won't overclock and am looking for good stable performance. I typically run dual monitors and have many windows up at a time. Productivity apps, multiple browser windows and remote desktop sessions. I would also like to occasionally play some games but that is secondary.

I put together specs for these two systems, the AMD is about $100 cheaper, and I may even be able to skip the video card with the AMD.

Is the Intel system worth the extra money? I know the 775 is kind of dead end and the AMD system gives me more upgrade potential. What about performance? Any components I should reconsider? All the parts are listed from newegg which is where I will buy them.

Thanks

I would go with the Athlon II X4 620 build for your needs. Don't spend the extra money on the E8400, when the 620 will meet your needs.

I recommend changing your hard drive to the Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB. It is cheaper and faster than the WD 640GB Black. The rest of your system looks good!!

Thanks for the heads up on the Spinpoint - this looks like a great option!
