I5 2500k auto versus OC

so my build is done... asus p8z68 Lx with a 2500k and a cooler master 212+. i've been running it in auto mode and see that it idles at 1.6 or so and when needed it will jump to 3.3

my question is about the oc'ing... if i do oc to say 4ghz+, will it always run at that oc'd speed or will it idle at something lower and then jump to the oc'd speed as needed??

my numbers are referring to the speed... 1.6 ghz at idle. then 3.3 ghz when the comp needs more processing power. if i oc to something in the 4ghz range....... will it stay at 4.x ghz all the time? or will it idle at a lower speed and jump to the 4.x ghz speed when the comp needs more processing power. i'm not asking anything about voltage right now... kwim?

It will do both.

If you disable any throttling features in bios then it will constantly stay at whatever you set the Oc to, if you enable them it will throttle down when not using resources, and ramp it up to your set speed when needed
