I am putting together a build, it has been a long time since I did this, and had a question about SSD and HDD.

Basically I am new to SSD and when putting my build together, people having been telling me I need to add SSD, but don't explain it. What should I be storing on SSD and what should I store on HDD?

There are quite a few threads and articles on this; I will edit this and post links.

The SSD has amazingly fast read speeds and access times. The "traditional" install has the operating system and installed programs on the SSD, with all of the data on the HDD. "All of the data" includes the My Documents and My Everything Else folders.

The idea is that system startup and operation, and program loading, benefit from fast access. Your data, which is so large that storing it on SSD would cost thousands of dollars, goes on the HDD. For most files, there is no question. Downloading from the Web is slower than the speed of an HDD. Playing music or video is slower than the speed of an HDD. You just don't benefit from the SSD as much with your data.

There are exceptions, for massive and IO limited processes like transcoding, Photoshop, recording HD video, and other things.

I didn't read it through, just the page titles. You may need to move My Everything, which can be done simply by right-clicking on the My Something folder, Properties, and changing the path to a directory on the HDD. There was a recent post suggesting something deeper, which I would not personally use, in this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/270102-32-useful-articles-part .
