Hyper 212 vs. h100

your cpu will run atleast 15 degrees cooler. you will be limited to about 4.5 with the 212+ and to about 4.8-4.9 with the h100.

get the h100 or a noctua nh-d14. they perform about the same and are actually good compared to the hyper 212+

Those aren't even in the same price range. If you want water cooling, go custom! It will be a little bit more expensive but will outperform the H100 EASILY!

That's a horrible comparison... The better comparison is the H100 and NH-D14 as cbrunnem mentioned. At least they're closer in price and performance.

Regardless, I agree with muffin here. If you want to go water, go all the way with custom. No need to fool around with closed loop stuff.

And temps depend on a lot of things (ambient temp, voltage, etc.), so we can't give you an exact answer on that, just our own experience (mine being that I have core temps from 59-63C in Prime 95 @ 4.5 on my 2500K with a 212 Evo in push/pull). But I've seen other people with lower AND higher temps, so there's no set range for each cooler.

well i do agree it's unfair to compare the two, the h100 will obviously be better but i want to see if the h100 will be overkill for me. I also don't have the time or money to go custom. Basicly I want to see where each coolers hit there limits.

H100 isn't going to get you much higher than a 212+. Just because it says 'liquid cooling' on the box, doesn't mean it's very good at it.

+1.in fact it's a prius with a lambo body.

Pretty much something like this:

They put a girl on a POS car, in relation they try to simulate real watercooling (girl) and put it in a closed loop.

all i really want to know are your guys: max temps, voltage and clock speed

also i cant really go for a bigger heat sink i have corsair vengeance ram and the hyper 212 1-2 cm from touching my ram (based on others builds and experience with the 212 evo/plus)

ammuffin why do you use folding instead of prime like everyone else. do it run a lot cooler or something?

I fold for the TH folding team! It gets me points and as well can check for overclock stability :)

BOINC (which runs SETI@Home, MilkyWay@Home, etc) are very similar for loading, but Intel Burn Test works better than anything I've found, including Prime. It's brutal for stability and load testing...I haven't found anything that loads a CPU harder.

i looked into that and downloaded it but when it asks for team number for toms you just put in 40051 right. also task manager shows 100% usage but the process only shows 13%? is that normal.

is there anything else i need to know.
