No display in my Laptop

Hi to all,, I Have a laptop HP DV9000 series,, its just
I cant boot it up, the power is there but no display at all, even how hard i tried all the possible thing s to boot it up, but still i cant, so i went to the HP Center, they told me to replace my motherboar at a cost of almost 30,000 pesos - 40,000 pesos, or = ET $900. .

is there any solution for that? only the videochip is damage.. can i put an external VideoCard for it??

No external card possible. I had a similar problem ones with a hp omnibook 6000. Between the screen and the keyboard there was a separate plastic strip that I could pull out. underneath it I found a plug for the screen and as well a dip-switch. The fix to my problem was reseat the plug and move the switch backwards and forwards a few times and I got display back.

$900 is not a cheap...
If they asked that much, then i suggest u to ignore it and buy a new laptop, cause the price they give u is enough to buy a new laptop or a whole desktop computer...
But that just me anyway...
