It is useful to have a VGA card because most integrated sets are not meant for gaming, and perform poorly.

To install one, simply open the PCI-Express bracket, or clip, and insert the card firmly.

The best card is the HD5970, priced at $600. These are the top cards per price area.

$50 HD4670
$100 GTS250 (4850 is $120 now, I believe)
$150 HD5770
$200 HD4890
$300 HD5850
$400 HD5870

"why need vga card?"
A VGA card allows the CPU or integrated GPU to offload 3D rendering and other computationally heavy tasks freeing up the CPU to do other work. This dual attack method greatly increases performance (largely in video games).

"how to inset?"
Modern motherboards use the PCI-e 2.0 interface. Modern VGA cards can use PCI-d 1.0 or 2.0. Older cards and motherboards used AGP (and other formats before then). They are inserted into an available PCI-e slot, locked down with a screw or tool-free clamp and then connected to a PCI-e power connector from the power supply (if needed).

"which one is top?"
See this list for a good hierarchy of graphics cards performance.
