Before discarding an unwanted set top TV box with recorder (BT didn't want it it back when they sent me an upgrade!!) I removed the 160GB Western Digital hard drive. when I connected it to my computer it wouldn't recognise it. I thoght it may be specially formatted so I tried to reformat it within windows. I got the dialogue box saying it could not reformat this disk. Is there any way I could reformat this disk so I can reuse it? John

Does disk management show it properly? If so, delete all the partitions. [strike]If you really want to format it, create a new partition the full size of the drive, then format it.[/strike]

I didn't see that you want to reuse it, so definately create a new partiton(s) then format each new partition you created.
