------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within a couple weeks

BUDGET RANGE: $400-$500

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Moderate gaming/videos. Won't be playing Crysis or anything anytime soon

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: I would like to use an AMD CPU and Nvidia Video Card

OVERCLOCKING: No SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1680x1050

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Doesn't have to be the best, or flashy. Just need it to do what I want, be reliable and run at a respectable FPS. Not looking for top of the line and I know my budget doesn't leave much room.

Ignore the below specs, go to my last post for final parts list

So I'll be building my first custom pc on my own, rather than with help like the last couple I had. So trying to piece together a decent gaming machine to upgrade over my current one (AMD X2 4400+ Nvidia 7600 GT 2 gigs of ram)
My budget is pretty low $400 to $500 tops and I've put together everything I need on newegg which came to $398 but I decided on a slightly better video card and pushed it to $460.

Basically, I'd like to know if this setup seems decent, that everything is compatible and will be sufficient, (i.e. Mobo and CPU compatible, PSU enough etc)

All of this, with a some freebies/bonus'/free shipping on some etc
(Call of duty 4/Stormrise, thumbdrive/card reader and the tv/radio adapter)

Comes to $460 Shipped. Little over what I wanted to spend, but choosing the 9800 GT over the Geforce 220 I had originally seemed like a good investment.

So, any tips, ideas, comments, or anything helpful at all, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks in advance!

~~Edited 2 more PSU options after looking around a bit Both rosewills are the same price, yet one is more wattage and 4 rails vs 1 and I'm not too sure what that means!~~

Just an update.
Think I decided on a psu. I keep hearing that rosewill psu's are no good, and that the Hec 600w I chose is iffy. So probably going with this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Just worry that 400w may be a little low.

Still looking for some reviews of this setup, compatibility etc. Thanks

Anyone have some input on if this will all be compatible and such?

The 400W just meets the bare minimum. It will work, but you'll have to replace it with a beefier one when you upgrade the gpu.

Are you sure you want the DDR2 + DDR2 MOBO? You can get DDR3 for a bit more & a DDR3 mobo.

That way, you won't have to ditch the DDR2 on your next cpu/mobo upgrade. DDR3 will be around for a long while.

Well, upgrading isn't something in my near future, and when it comes to that I'll probably have more options available as well as a larger budget. So the DDR2 for now will be more than enough for me at the moment. I am however looking into some DDR3 mobos to work around my budget, so thanks for that input. Work in progress. Finalizing my details tonight then placing my order.

I did however, listen to my gut and upgrade the PSU.. I managed to work in a little more to my budget and I will be going with:
550w Corsair PSU

OK! Scratch everything else I had listed.. this is my new invoice. I was able to squeeze a bit more out of the budget, got some higher quality parts, beefier CPU/Mobo/PSU/Ram For a pretty hefty machine I'd imagine. This is the final verdict. Will order tonight, so please ANY feedback, please please please let me know. THANKS!
