Hi,

This is my first post, so bear with me. I am trying to set up a rig for flight simulator. I currently am running an AMD Athlon II X4 620 and 6GB of RAM.

I am looking for a really cheap solution to getting FSX to run at high settings. I saw the HD4350 and I was attracted to the $40 price point. What does anyone think?

Here is what I am thinking about - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

More about : ati hd4350 run fsx

HD 4350 is not considered a gaming card.

Not at all, the 4350 is marginally stronger than the HD3300 which is an integrated graphics processor and is only really good for running things on low settings at up to 1280x1024, if you want to be able to turn the settings up a bit consider a 4670, its got 4x the stream processors and 25% higher clock speed than the 4350 for only $30 more, or $20 more after MIR

If I remember correctly, FSX's performance is more tied to the CPU than GPU thanks to buggy coding. While you should have a decent graphics card, you'll need a good CPU, too.

I believe my CPU is decent. I just got it. AMD Athlon II 620, which I may be overclocking.

A good CPU and for some reason it runs better on nvidia cards. You have a good CPU for GPU I would recommend GTS250

but if you want something cheaper I would look at 9800GT 9600GT and GT240.

Speaking of which, how is the worth of a GT240? Is it any good for ~$100?

And thanks for the reply.

It has about the same performance as 9600GT and is more energy efficient here is a link to a test. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gt-240,2475... it is compared to 9800gt as well so you can judge the price/performance for yourself. I would buy the 9800gt for about the same price.
