Best time to buy parts

Whats the best time to buy parts? I will be gettting a new computer for xmas. However, how much cash I get for xmas will determine the parts, etc. The only definate is that I want a i7 920 CPU. I do not NEED to replace my computer, but want to, so if I can save some money by waiting, I will. Thanks in advance.

There is no answer for this since nobody has a crystal ball. Just a few month ago i could buy 4870s for $120 and 6gb of 1600mhz ram for $75. Ram prices have almost doubled, and video card prices have increased by 50%. So the best thing I can tell you to do is shop wisely and when you see something for significantly less than the average market price, snatch it up.
