Upgrading Decision

Hello, not too long ago, actually 1 week after the amd 955 came out, i built a computer with 8 gb 1600 mhz RAM, a 4890 slightly overclocked, 2 velociraptors in raid 0, 2 TB WD raid 1, and the msi 790 gx board. My question is, should i get a second 4890, and would that boost performance by a lot, or should i wait for something like the 5870 to come down in price and get that and just sell my 4890.

It's a matter of personal preference. I prefer single gpus. So I'd sell the 4890 & get the 5870.

No it wont. The 4890 in Crossfire outperform 4870X2 which is equal or better than 5870.

Ok, so it is a better choice to just get another 4890, that wouldn't bottleneck anything right.

It all depends on what resolution you are playing at. Most people are happy with 1 HD4890 at 1920 x 1080 but you will see a gain at that resolution. Your CPU is easy to overclock so you could do that if you experience any kind of bottleneck.

good point, and it already is overclocked to 3.8 GHz, so i don't really think that should be too much of a problem. Thanx guys!!

Don't forget you're sticking to DX10 cards whereas I prefer DX11 cards if I'm buying a new one. FYI, DIRT2 for PC for DX11 has been out.
