AMD 800 series micro ATX boards

I'll be finishing up my new build (for me) fairly soon and am itching to begin gathering parts for a micro ATX build in a NZXT Vulcan for my son. I'd like to stick with the new AMD 800 series boards (for the SB850) as well as the 6 GB/S SATA and USB 3 if possible. GX is preferable but FX is fine.

I'm partial to Gigabyte but I am open to any suggestions and wouldn't mind trying MSI, ASUS, Biostar, etc. Do any of you have personal experience with a particular micro ATX that you might recommend? Oh, and if you have a better recommendation in place of the Vulcan, I am all ears; I just really like what I have seen of the Vulcan so far but I am open to other suggestions as well.

  1. What's your budget?

    Otherwise try these two motherboards:

    ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 - $104.99, $7.56 shipping

    BIOSTAR TA890GXB - $94.99, $7.56 shipping

The ASUS board is based on the AMD 880G chipset with Radeon HD 4250 graphics while the BIOSTAR has the AMD 890GX chipset with Radeon HD 4290 graphics. Both have SB850.

Just to note, the ASUS board has a PCI-e 1x slot which could be used for a sound card while the BIOSTAR does not.
  2. Budget will be around $700-$800USD. I'll take a look at both of those boards. The ASUS sounds interesting. Thanks for the input.

I read somewhere that the Gigabyte 880G mATX may have RAID problems so I'm trying to broaden my horizons.
  3. Why stick with mATX? ATX isn't more expensive, for instance:

LE: and some other case, of course.
