The AMD Phenom II x4 (X4 955 is your better choice) is the better CPU. It is the newest chip (AM3) where the AMD Athlon 64 x 2 is the older chips.

Are you building a new PC or buying pre-built? Is there a certain budget you are trying to meet?

NEW AMD Phenom Quad II X4 3.0GHz SLI Gaming Computer
Phenom II X4 940 3GHz, 1GB NVIDIA, 1TB HDD, 4GB RAM

OR.......

FAST Custom AMD Desktop Gaming Computer Windows 7
64bit Dual Core 3.2GHz 4GB DDR2 1066 HDMI 1000GB ATI

Which one is the absolute best? I think the first one I listed comes with XP....anyway...do you know which one sounds like the best?

the first one based on the limited info. BUT another BIG factor that should be considered is what graphics card does each system come with? That will greatly determine if your son can run his games wonderfully. Please find out.

As long as the first system is truly a Phenom II X4 Quad and not just a Phenom Quad, it will be the better system.

Do they list specifics for the video card on both systems besides 1GB Nvidia or ATI?
