Anything new from AMD in the near future?

Hello,

From time to time I look at new CPUs with the thought of building a new system. Is there anything out there in the Athlon II range that has been announced recently?

Not to my knowledge, maybe a month or so, but here are the latest Athlon II CPU's released in January...

Athlon II X4 635 Propus 2.9 GHz
Cores = 4
L3 Cache = None
Power = 95W
Street Price = $126

Athlon II X3 440 Rana 3.0 GHz
Cores = 3
L3 Cache = None
Power = 95W
Street Price = $89

Athlon II X2 255 Regor 3.1 GHz
Cores = 2
L3 Cache = None
Power = 65W
Street Price = $78

How do these stack up in real world use to the i3 and i5 from Intel? I have several systems using AMD but I'm not opposed to Intel if the gap in performance is significant. BTW how important is L3 cache?

lol its relatively soon.. it could be farther like 2013 or something.... Im sure Intel will have better though.. as they always do.. Amd needs to step up thier game! lol Intel cost to much for my blood!

thuban will release in may, and hopefully athlon ii x6 soon after so that cheapscates like me can see 6 graphs in taskman

Looks like some interesting changes. I was hoping to do a build a new system this summer so I may go with something in the 100~120 range at that time.

Q2 2010 or 2011? I would like to see a quad core in the 65-80 watt range clocking 2.8 - 3.0 GHz. - Sub $150 retail. Am I asking too much for this summer?
