i have this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
and this cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

now all i need is ram, im looking at 8gb of corsair 1600mhz ram, but for only $40 more i can get 8gb 2000mhz ram. is this a worthwhile upgrade? and on the specifications for the mother board it doesnt mention 2000mhz ram, but im guessing the 2000mhz is still compatible right?

IMO... I would go with the $99.99 Cas7 Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 over the Cas9 Corsair XMS3 DDR3 2000. The tighter timings will play a bigger factor than the Mhz difference between 1600 & 2000
