  1. I am wondering the same thing. I bought a CM Storm Stryker case, a new PSU, and a GTX 680. Im going to use the 8500 motherboard, i7 3770 3.4/8gb ram. Was hoping to overclock the 3770 to get the most out of my games (Crysis 3 :P)
  2. Most likely the answer is no, if you had processor with "K" at the end - processor with unlocked multipliers, than there is a possibility. I don't know about you BIOS, is it locked? Can you change voltage or increase multipliers in BIOS? I know that XPS 8300 can not, as I am working on the same issue helping someone with it, but this person has 2600K with unlocked multipliers. All people here would suggest overclocking through the BIOS or changing motherboard. There is very slight chance of overclock, but it would require a lot of experimentation with unknown result? Would you both be willing to do what ever it takes to try? At the end you might end up with nothing?!
  3. Dell locks the bios usually, and Overclocking that cpu is pointless, you`ll just most likely damage it if you don`t know what you`re doing and there isn't a lot of room for ocing it in the first place. You`d need a 3770k and a new board.

New MOBO new CPU and new Windows licence because Dell OEM is notgoing to work - basically new build. When people buy Dell they want simplicity and no headache. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding info about possible overclock ways for Dell locked BIOS, I am not saying it is impossible, but not having this XPS myself it is difficult, so far the only promising approach is through PLL numbers. If this fail, then 95% is NO answer, FSB is possible but very limited, say from 3.4 to 3.6 and that is it. AMD is much easier, even in locked Dell !
