Core i3 vs 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo

Hello,

I'm confused between buying a Dell and a Compaq Presario. My usage for a laptop is for normal word, excel, email, internet, music - no graphic works, just some basic photoshopping.

The specs of the Dell are:
2.13 core i3 (which i know is new), 2GB ram, 250GB HDD, etc etc

The specs of the Compaq are:
2.1 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 3GB ram and 320 GB HDD

the compaq is slightly more expensive than the dell but the biggest difference is that one has a faster, newer processor chip and the other has better ram.

what would you guys recommend? i'd want to stick to this laptop for at least 2-3 years.

Go with the faster CPU, the RAM is an easy cheap upgrade at a later date.

Yeah, ram and harddrives are easy to upgrade

I'd definitely go for the i3.
