I agree 100%. But some people prefer to have PhysX and DX11 is not really in use (heck, not even DX10.1 is). Not to mention it's almost impossible to find one 5870 in stock for a reasonable price.

Currently few games like DIRT2 support DX11 but there will be more in future.
I recommend getting HD 5870 instead too because PhysX doesn't have a great impact on every game, there are some which PhysX makes them look better but with the cost of a great loss in FPS

Actually, you are not be as correct as you may suspect. It is currently easier and much cheaper to buy an HD 5870 online than a GTX 295.

Go check Newegg. There are 2 brands for sale of the HD 5870. 1 for $409 and the other for $429. For the GTX 295, only 1 brand is in stock and it retails for $699.

Of those that are sold out, 5 brands for the HD 5870 are there with many of them at the $409 price while only 1 more brand for the GTX exists and selling at $529.

You are right. But not everybody is in the U.S and NewEgg does not ship internationally. If you check eBay and most international vendors, you'll see that when the rare 5870s are in stock, they cost the same as the GTX295 or even more.

Which brings up the real solution, when someone asks a "which is best" thread, they should state where they are, as if the 5870 is more expensive and out of stock, the 295 may be the better choice, and the opposite is true as well.
