I recently got some new parts for my old Compaq, and little did I know that the motherboard I got didn't have the correct input for the wire to the power button; so now I can't turn it on. Is there any other way to turn it on, preferably not by shorting the motherboard?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, LOTS of spare shops in my neighborhood! Pull the two wires from the plug-in block and using some good flux, solder the wires to the motherboard... It does take a steady hand and good soldering technique!

Thanks guys, I solved the problem. I just had to trim the wires and a couple others from the case speaker and connect them, then find an alternate place on the motherboard to plug in, since it didn't have a place for a 2-pin connector.

Thanks again for your help.
