I will be using photoshop with large jpeg files, editing avchd and mpeg video, and gaming potential would be nice.

p6x58d Asus board
17-920
23 inch 1920 x 1080 monitor
6GB Dominator cas 7 ram
850w corsair
mid tower case
windows 7 64 bit

I am considering:

MSI 9800GT md1g 1GB 256bit ddr3
Newegg MSI 9800GT
seems like it would do everything I need, be inexpensive and have reliable drivers

or

HD 5770 1GB 128 bit gddr5
Newegg Sapphire HD 5770
nicer card, still reasonable, but some people seem to have trouble with the drivers

or

HD 5850 1 GB 256 bit gddr5
Newegg Sapphire HD 5850
A little expensive, but should do everything I need for a long time to come, some people also having driver trouble

I probably won't SLI or crossfire since I want at least one of the PCI slots. If I go with the 9800, I will probably upgrade once the price comes down on the 5800's and the drivers seem reliable

any thoughts?

These cards are new, there may be a few games that needs some work, but theyll be fixed shortly, and the ATI 5 series are a great series.
The 5 series also is becoming more available after TSMCs slow work on getting the 40nm right, so maybe the cards will come down some

If you havn't bought the power supply yet, get a 650w or less, you don't need a 850w for what you are doing, seems like a big waste of money.

Is all you do photoshop? No cad or anything?

The 9800GT can game, not amazingly well, but it can.

What is your budget?
