Hello, Does a core I7 support 1600 mhz memory? When I first booted my new rig, the bios showed my memory at 1066mhz (PC 8500). Is there some limitation using a Core I7 940 chip? Or, is there an adjustment to be made without blowing the board, chip, or memory that will allow me to run my ram at its stock speed?

Thanx

I heard you need to adjust your base clock or memory multiplier to run at 1600MHz. The i7s (960 and below) officially only support DDR3-1066 at max, so you need to overclock (in a very silly sense of the word) to run the memory at the rated speed.
