I want to upgrade my motherboard to either asus or some other good mobo. The only mods i have is a new computer case with couple case fans. I need to know what is a good cpu cooler also. I have the G33 motherboard right now and the socket is 775

How much do you want to pay for the motherboard and CPU cooler ?

I like the Gigabyte P45's. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer available.

I have one of these (good overclocker):

That's if you plan on using DDR2 RAM with it. If you plan on using DDR3 RAM with it, get one of the P45T models.

Asus P5Q SE PLUS is what i use for my Q9400, completely stable OC'd to 3.2 Ghz on 1600 Mhz FSB. Prior to that the mobo ran my E8400 all the way to a 2000 Mhz FSB stable but I didn't like the extra vcore so I settled for 1600 Mhz FSB.

The Gigabyte EP45 series as well as the Asus P5 series are about as good as you can get. Either should work fine and both are great overclockers.

hunderedislandsboy I think you are confused? 2000mhz FSB on a Core2?? My FSB is at 400mhz with a 9x multi.

Oh yeah, I'm very sure.

Futuremark thinks my e8400 ran to 4.5 Ghz because it assumes I kept the stock multiplier bu I ran 8 X 500 front side bus.

I was also able to run my Asus P5N-D to a 2000 Mhz FSB stable!
