After going over all the usual culprits and such that I can think of, I'm left with just one problem with my new build that I just can't seem to remedy. (However small/annoying it may be!)

My new hardware included...

ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe/HDMI

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066

EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition

Now, that being said - My problem is an annoying booting issue. As odd as this may sound, it takes TWO attempts to boot my machine every time. But mind you, it always boots on that second try. It usually goes like this..

1) Power Up

*Instantly hung up, without even seeing the BIOS info, etc.*

2) TOTALLY kill power, via unplugging PSU.

3) REboot

4) Enjoy the new PC. :D

Now, I originally thought it might be a problem with Asus's preOS option, Expressgate. But, even after completely disabling it I'm still getting the fits. And, although I wouldn't think it'd be connected, my PSU is pretty old. But, is it possible it could in some way be playing a role in the problem? :??:

SILVERSTONE ZEUS ST65ZF 650W ATX 12V 2.0 & EPS 12V

Although old and maybe not overkill on the power side, shouldn't it get the job done? Or, have I totally been missing the picture on my ideas of PSUs? *laugh*

Thanks very much for any/all help! Tom's Hardware has been a godsend of mine for quite some time! :sol:

Yea, while not an end-of-the-world problem, you understand how it hurts your ego more thank anything. :sol:

Forgot to add, I did flash to the latest BIOs and everything.

ALSO, it should be noted that it doesn't hangup anytime you do a 'restart' from windows either. You could do restarts back-to-back all day, without a problem. Just seems to surface when it's completely shut down.

Start googling cold boot issues. I had this happen on a old 600 megahertz comp that I used for a bit as a server, but seeing as how it was on all the time I never investigated it since it just wasn't annoying enough. So I never bothered diagnosing it.
