Question about cpu fan

I know this sounds stupid,but I want to make sure that I am correct. If the heatsink fans were to stop,would the motherboard also burn up and not just the prossessor.

Niether should burn up. The CPU has sensor that will shut it down if the temps get too high to prevent damage. This will cause your PC to shutdown/BSOD... etc. Also, you will have an internal CPU fan not working error during the boot process.

To answer your question to the point, your CPU overheated to point of damage, it could damage your motherboard.

If that BIOS option is set. Sometimes the default setting is to report error, sometimes not.

I always check. The setting should be in the PC Health BIOS tab - at least, that's where it is at in Gigabyte motherboards.
