don't ask how to crack/bypass password protection.
@mods: is this reportable?

Check with WD. If it's encrypted, and you did not make a backup key, the data would be impossible to get to using normal means. As in without spending months and a few thousand dollars or more on it. If it's just a simple username/password access, should be easy to get past, but you'd need to contact the vendor for help.
