RAM placement

I am not sure what the First memory slot is... is it the one closest to the CPU or the one near the edge of the board:?

i understand the general rule is to put the larger RAM sticks in 1 and 2 slots;

also ; if any one uses CPU-Z. can I get some insight as to why Jdec#1 is 200 MHz. jdec#2 something slightly higher (i forgot) and jdec#3 336 MHz?

this is how my motherboard looks from the CPU being on top

etc..

so im guessing the slot closest to the CPU is the third memory slot right??

but according to CPU-Z the first slot is the one closest to the edge of my MotherBoard

(away from CPU)
