I just got a new cooling unit for my X3 720 and am trying to overclock it. I did try unlocking the 4th core but all I got was a black screen upon restart. Right now by just adjusting the multiplier it's stable at 3.2ghz (stock is 2.8ghz) and runs no hotter than 35C in Prime95 but at 3.4ghz it crashes shortly after booting and at 3.3ghz I get an error in Prime95 pretty quickly.

Should I try increasing the cpu voltage a bit?

(btw I am not very experienced at overclocking)

ok I set the CPU Vcore to +.05 and it's now stable at 3.4ghz. CPU-Z shows the CPU voltage to be at 1.408v so I don't really understand how the + CPU Vcore works...Stock voltage is 1.3 so I thought +.05 would make it 1.305

I tried setting it to +.10 and going to 3.5ghz but it BSOD'd running Prime95

How high is it safe to go with the voltage? Temps are still fine, never going over 37-38C at 100% load.

Also I've noticed Cool N' Quiet doesn't seem to work once I overclock...it's still checked as enabled in my BIOS but it just stays at 3.4ghz all the time.
