I'm building a new xmas present, and just wanted to make sure there wasn't a trick to building the AMD route, namely the RAM configuration. Three should be better than two, but I just wanted to confirm!

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600

If the mobo supports DDR3, the ram will fit. But wouldn't you want to run the ram in dual channel?

I'm almost certain that the AM3 socket supports dual channel ram, so using 3 sticks would not be beneficial at all.

AMD don't support Tri-channel, so, in this case is better that buy 2X2GB or 4x2GB, the 2x3GB should be run in some mode like the flex mode of Intel.
