Xp os freezing on boot up

I have a HP computer running XP that freezes on boot up every time. It will not go past the blue screen with the HP logo and the [F1 Setup] [Esc Boot Menu] [F10 System Recovery] info. It also has an Intel logo on the screen. I have been able to force it past this screen a few times by pressing different keys but it never seems to be the same keys that do the trick. Help.

Try pressing the F10 System Recovery and see if it continues.
