Hello and welcome to the forums :)
Well here is your PC:

It looks an old system,i suggest you getting a new system instead if you can, because with that specs you can't play games well.
Also a 9400GT is a low end card and not recommended for gaming

I concur, that system is to old to bother upgrading.
Save the cash you would have spent on the 9400GT and put it towards a new system.

How is this for a complete build:

Athlon II x4 620: $99
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P: $70 after $10 MIR
4Gb DDR3 1033: $100
HIS 5770: $153 after $10 instant promo code 'VGA1214'
Antec 300 Illusion Case: $55
OCZ ModXStream 500w PSU: $40 after $25 MIR
WD Black 1Tb Hard Drive: $100
Sony Optiarc 24x DVD/RW: $32

Total: $649 after $35 in MIR's and a $10 promo code

This will give you a quite fast and high quality build that you will be able to upgrade as needed in the future.
If you want to shave a bit of the costs, look into the following componets:

Athlon II x2 240: $58
-OR-
Athlon II x3 425: $77

4Gb DDR3 1066: $75
9800GT: $75 after $25 MIR
WD Blue 500Gb Hard Drive: $56

This will bring the price down to $461 or $480, after MIR's, and will still be a massive upgrade from your current system.
