Been reading for days and still at a toss up between which board to buy. I would like to have a board i can upgrade on later so thats why i really wanted to push towards the 890 but im still unsure on the full features and what exactly i need. Decided to go with a phenom x2 555be and gamble for the core unlock but if it dont work i wanted to have an easy overclock option to make up for it a little. To my understanding from what ive read the 890 has a real easy overclock option. What i cant seem to figure out is the difference between all the different names they use for em the turbov turbokey yada yada. Would the 880 be better then the 785evo or are the overclock/core unlock options the same? Also the 890 has a combo deal with the cpu for 218 so would it be worth the extra 30$ or so to go with the 890 over the 880? If possible id like the option of disabling specific cores incase i have 1 bad 1 good i read about it being a feature on a mobo but i forgot which and where :/ Is that option available on any of these boards? I was also looking at the MSI boards with similar features does anyone have a preference of which is easier to navigate overclocking/unlocking in the bios? Im a asus fan so kinda wanted to stick with the brand but if MSI would be a better option im up for a change

Oh forgot i planned on going with a radeon 57xx series something in the 100-150 range. Just waiting on that untill i can catch a deal for one because its not important to me at the moment. So i guess factor that into which board will be better to i will not be going with sli. Is crossfire worth using or better off on just the pcie? Also need a cheap cooler option for the cpu ive tried looking and found a few but not totally positive they would fit like this one. I wont be doing hardcore overclocking just a decent bump so hoping i could get by with a cheaper one under 30-40$

Just built a PC with this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130275 Very easy to work with. Also military certified... (supposely real stable according to the department of defense) is SLI capable, full size board, core unlocker.

Crossfire or SLI vs a single card just depends on which card(s). Crossfire/SLI just lets you use twice the hardware for near twice the performance, downfall is it takes more power, more space, and sucks up your pci-e slots and blocks other unused slots.

What are you going to be using the computer for?

Typically, the more you pay, the less performance increase you're going to get from stepping up. I like to see it like a ladder.. The higher I climb, the shorter the steps. The space between the steps being the performance increase..... lol

It will be used for gaming most likely final fantasy 14 unless it sucks then itll be used for guild wars 2. I do not mind playing at lower settings though im not hardcore on looks as long as it runs smooth. Not interested in sli or crossfire either
