Temps on a i7-2600k @ 4.6 GHz with Cooler Master Evo 212

I have a Intel Core i7-2600k OC'd to 4.6 GHz (HT on) running at 1.328 Vcore at full load with IntelBurnTest.

When running IntelBurnTest, temps reach up to 85 C. Is this normal for a 4.6 GHz OC with that voltage on the CM 212 Evo? Seems a bit high to me, but obviously my temps are not typically going to be that high, this is in IntelBurnTest only.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Those temps are high for an i7. Anything over 75C should be avoided for anything.

I reseat the cooler, now I'm maxing at 75 C when running IntelBurnTest. Is that acceptable?

That is much better. What thermal paste are you using btw?

The Cooler Master paste that came with the cooler.

Ok, that should be good enough. To get it cooler I would think you need more air flow in your case.

I have seen stock(stock cooler and speed) get into the 80s without overclocking so you are good at 75.

Little if any real world use(Shy of folding @ home or video compression both things that are done with video cards more and more) will get your cpu that hot.

Enjoy the system.
