Problem With my HDD!

Well I had an old hard drive on my old computer that went but it works but rather half assed... Sometimes it will install windows sometimes it wont it usually will crash on the registry part of the setup on 7... Now the thing is the HDD I used to replaced it just went so I had to go RMA it... So Im looking for a temporarily fix on this old HDD... If windows installs it basically always corrupts the system.config or it drops other blue screens... Is there anyway of saving it?

Please provide make of your HDD which needs a fix. Usually, HDD manufacturers have diagnostic tools. Please inform make/model and we'd go from there.
