I have two WD 320G hard drives in my Dell M6400 notebook.

Even though they are striped raid, they are not very fast.. windows system scores them at a 5.9.. They are the slowest thing in my system..

I would like to upgrade and have a SSD as the main OS/Programs drive, and another 500G for just video and project files (I work with a lot of video files as an animator)..

My Programs, Programs(x86), Windows, and User folders total 180G.. I can probably whittle that down to 100G (I think there is a lot of temporary user files I can delete)..

Any advice? on a good SSD + SATA combo?

Store everything that isn't an application, game, or something else you need to load quickly on the mechanical drive. You can us mklink to map shortcuts to your hdd if you absolutely HAVE to have your files in your my documents folder.

As far as combo... anything. Just shop for the best deals, as you don't have to worry about compatibility.
