Ok to use i5 or i7 on or with AMD CPU and MOBO?

Forum Motherboards & Memory : Asus Ok to use i5 or i7 on or with AMD CPU and MOBO?

I'm looking at a Crosshair IV and a Phenom II X4 965 Black.

Problem is I wanted to go with the best reviewed RAM but it's listed as i7 - is this a problem?
G.SKILL F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD Trident PC3-16000 6GB 3X2GB DDR3-2000 CL9-9-9-24 Core i7 Memory Kit

or will\should I stick with this:

G.SKILLF3-16000CL9D-4GBFLS Flare PC3-16000 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-2000 CL9-9-9-24 Phenom II X6 Memory Kit

The first one is labelled as core i7 kit since it is a three RAM module kit for the X58 platform which supports triple channel memory.. It'll work with the phenom II setup also.. BTW, DDR3 2000 MHz is hugely irrelevant for use (especially with AMD setups) unless you are planning on some very high levels of overclocking.. For other purposes, a good DDR3 1600 MHz memory with low CAS timings will work more better..

Thank you for your answer - cleared up what I needed to know.
Thanks for the advice as well... I'll look at my other options.

I've been out of the "hardware" scene for awhile used to be a PC Builder but... I work for an engineering company now so I'm using old skills for a new project ;)

Appreciate your time,
SKiN.

I guess this would be a good alternative:
G.SKILL F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD Trident PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL8-8-8-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit

That's $50 less than the 2000 of the same type.

Those RAM modules are perfect.. Good choice..

This is about the best "bang for your buck" DDR3 1600 out there. Very low timings and very reliable. I have used it in both Intel and AMD builds with no problems. It is also $5 cheaper than the slower timed cas 8-8-8-24 Trident series.
