RAM speed or size?

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting one of two Dell PCs, both with about the same specs - i7 920, Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, etc... The only difference is that one has 12 GB of RAM at 1033 Mhz, and the other has 6 GB at 1333 Mhz. They are both about the same price. Which RAM will give me the best all-round performance, considering that I do both gaming and work with pictures and other media?

More about speed size
  1. 6Gb is plenty, but 12Gb will make it so you don't have to upgrade later on. It's up to you.
  2. Again, pressed submit too early. You won't notice a massive difference in speed either way, only minor changes.
  3. If I were you I would stick to the 6GB since with laptops you can't really handle them for too long , and trust me applications and games now dont even use even up 4gb of ram so with 6gb no problems for the next maybe 2years
