Hey all, not sure if I should've posted this in this forum or the Windows 7 forum, but here goes:

I'm going to be building my first system soon. I was originally planning to include an SSD (Crucial M4 128GB @ $249) but due to unforesoon financial constraints I've been thinking about putting off buying it for a couple of months. This leads me to my main question, in the meantime, can I install Windows 7 Home Premium on a HDD then when I buy the SSD, wipe the HDD, backup all my stuff and install Windows on the SSD? I've never installed an OS before so I'm not sure if it gets locked to the first device you install it on.

Yes.

You need to backup the hard drive, then wipe it. :)

Then once you install Windows, you need to go into the BIOS and change your boot device.

Or do what I do:
When I build a system, I always plug the boot device into the SATA 0 port.
